Appointment Requirements
As of June 2, drivers must schedule appointments in advance to have their vehicles tested at Dubai’s 27 technical inspection centers. Customers can still visit the Tasjeel Hatta branch without a reservation, which is an exception to the rule.
At eight of these sites, inspections will only be conducted by appointment; walk-ins will never be permitted. At 19 of these centers, walk-in visitors may receive inspection services at no additional cost if available.
Appointment-Only Locations
These eight places consist of the following:
- Wasel Vehicle Testing Centers: Nad Al Hamar and Arabian Center
- Shamil Centers: Nad Al Hamar, Al Adid, and Al Muhaisnah
- Center Al Mumayaz: Al Mizhar
- Tasjeel Centers: Al Mankhool and Al Twar
Simplifying Vehicle Testing: An Advancement in Digital Technology
Based on RTA data, this policy extension is the outcome of a six-month pilot program initiated at the Al Qusais and Al Barsha Tasjeel centers in October 2024. According to their data, RTA reported a 46% average reduction in wait times and a 15% decrease in physically processed transactions without sacrificing revenue. Additionally, vehicle testing at these locations decreased by 13%, but more than half of customers were satisfied with the results and made reservations in advance.
Improving Resource Allocation and User Experience
RTA’s Director of Vehicle Licensing, Qais Mohammad Al Farsi, emphasized the improvements in operational efficiency and user satisfaction through the pilot. “This system facilitates more effective resource allocation, reduces service delays, and greatly enhances customer convenience,” he said.
Al Farsi emphasized how an online appointment system will help locations with over 80% utilization better manage capacity and cut inspection delays by 40%.
